A 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

50 Years of Marriage is hard to come by these days!

My in-laws celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss yesterday.  We wanted to host a party for them but they really just wanted to have dinner together as a family.  So that is what we did.

We took them to the restaurant of their choice and had a great time.  We talked about their wedding, which was nice as I didn’t know much about it.   I was tempted to talk about my own wedding but this was their day, not mine.   My mother in law’s brother and his wife also joined us and we were able to get a round table so we could all talk to each other.  I love sitting at  round tables when out with family.  It gives you a much better opportunity to chat together than a long table does.

Before we left for dinner, we took a family picture together.

The process of taking this picture had us all laughing hysterically trying to line up the camera and setting the timer. It wasn’t my camera so I wasn’t familiar with the timer settings so one picture snapped before I even joined it. But it put us all in a fun mood as we were giggling like kids so when the final picture snapped, everyone had nice smiles on their faces. This moment will be a memory now for the family, as it should be considering the day we celebrated!

50 years is an amazing accomplishment and you don’t hear of it very often.  My husband and I are at 12 years this year so we have a long way to go to get to 50!  But when I think about all that has happened in our 12 years being married, and all the great memories we already have together, I can only imagine what we’ll have after 50 years of marriage.   I’m really looking forward to it!
